Bluelight is a new iPhone app you can use to inform your parents, friends and loved ones that you have arrived at your intended destination. All you have to do is specify where it is you are headed to, how long it should take you to get there, and designate a contact from your address book. Then, the moment you have made it to the place you had to get to, by merely checking in the designated person will know everything is OK.
And in case you fail to check in, Bluelight will take care of sending a SMS or an email to the contact with your latest known position, as shown by the GPS of your phone. The person will actually have everything plotted on a map. In this way, your contact will know exactly where you are, and how to get in touch with you in the event he is worried.
This application can be used in a plethora of contexts. Looking after minors, looking after people who have Alzheimer… all the uses I can think of are laudable uses in themselves. And the fact the app can be had for free simply makes thing stand all the more commendable.
