Bhanzu, a math-learning startup founded by Neelakantha Bhanu, has raised $16.5 million in a Series B funding round. Epiq Capital led the round, with participation from Z3Partners, Lightspeed Ventures, and Eight Roads. Bhanu, known as the “world’s fastest human calculator,” won India’s first-ever gold in the Mental Calculation World Championship at the Mind Sports Olympiad 2020 in London.
By age 21, he had broken four world records and 50 Limca Book Records. Since its last funding round, Bhanzu has achieved 8x growth and maintains a positive cash flow. The company has established a strong product-market fit in India, the U.S., the U.K., and the Middle East.
Bhanzu’s curriculum focuses on eliminating math anxiety and building confidence through small, interactive group sessions.

The company uses advanced AI to personalize each session based on individual learning patterns, adjusting in real-time to improve teaching quality, student engagement, and learning outcomes.
This approach helps students develop strong problem-solving skills and progress at an optimal pace. Bhanzu offers courses for students from kindergarten to grade 9+. Bhanu stated that the new funding will support the company’s expansion and underscore its strong position.
He said, “The U.S. math education market has significant potential, but it is dominated by large, billion-dollar companies that have not innovated their curricula or effectively embraced new technologies. This gap creates a significant opportunity for Bhanzu to revolutionize math education in the U.S.”
Chinmay Katdare, a partner at Epiq Capital, acknowledged Bhanu’s solid team and robust business model, which maintains strong growth while being cash flow positive. “We are excited to partner with Bhanu and the team in their journey to revolutionize math education in the U.S., India, and globally,” Katdare added.
This funding round marks a significant milestone for Bhanzu as it continues to expand and innovate in the field of math education worldwide.
