ChartU is about the music. It can be shortly described as a Digg-like site for tunes.
The basic idea is that artists new and old alike can upload their music and get it charted, as it were. As a ChartU member, you compile playlists, add playlists to your favorites and share them with friends. Adding tracks is a simple matter of hitting the Add Track button featured with each charted song. You can also vote to get your favorite sounds to the top. The on site player is simple but user friendly—the music doesn’t stop if you surf around the site, and you can keep it open to listen to as you work or browse other sites. Songs are filtered by genre and country. They can also be downloaded.
Beta.ChartU.com In Their Own Words
“Welcome to CHARTU, so whats the plan? Well, the idea came about from a night in a pub (like most good ideas), a couple of drinks and various conversations about the cosmos could mean only one thing … an ‘inspiring bolt of lightning’.
The basic principle is we like music, we think the general concensus around the world is people like music too. So, why not create a website which focus’s purely on the music. The main point is artists/bands/groups get to ‘show off’ (come on people, we all know you become an artist/band/group to show off a little ;) ) their work to other people. Thats it, we just thought a chart would be a good way of doing this.”
Why Beta.ChartU.com It Might Be A Killer
This is a pretty groovy site. The music is actually pretty plentiful and diverse. You’ve got many options for customization and the player is easy to handle. Nice color scheme. The option to download songs is also a nice touch.
