Larian Studios has announced that Baldur’s Gate 3 will receive its final major update in 2025 with Patch 8. This significant patch will introduce a variety of new features and content, including 12 new subclasses, cross-play functionality, and a highly anticipated photo mode. Each of the game’s existing classes will receive a new subclass, adding depth and variety to the gameplay.

These subclasses include the College of Glamour for Bards, Path of Giants for Barbarians, Death Domain for Clerics, Circle of Stars for Druids, Oath of the Crown for Paladins, Arcane Archer for Fighters, Drunken Master for Monks, Swarmkeeper for Rangers, Swashbuckler for Rogues, Shadow Magic for Sorcerers, Hexblade for Warlocks, and Blade Singing for Wizards. Each subclass brings unique abilities, animations, and dialogue lines to enhance the role-playing experience. The addition of cross-play will allow players to enjoy full cross-platform progression in Baldur’s Gate 3 multiplayer.

Players will be able to invite friends across different platforms to join their lobbies or find multiplayer sessions using the Larian Network.

Patch 8 will also introduce a new photo mode, enabling players to capture and customize in-game scenes with various camera and lens settings.

This feature will provide an in-depth toolset for creating stunning screenshots, with options to adjust camera settings, highlight characters, and refine shot composition. Larian Studios has noted that while this will be the final substantial update for the game as they shift focus towards new projects, support for Baldur’s Gate 3 modders will continue. Since the release of official mod tools in September, players have shared over 3,000 mods, amassing over 70 million downloads.

A stress test for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC players is planned for early January 2025, allowing the community to help eliminate any bugs that may arise. More details on the patch and upcoming content will be revealed in the coming months. Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to evolve with these updates, bringing fresh content and enhancements that will ensure the game’s lasting appeal in the RPG community.

Fans can look forward to the release of Patch 8 in 2025, which promises to be a fitting finale to Larian Studios’ support for this beloved title.
