Baanhem Ventures, a company that creates the entrepreneurial reality show “Startup Thamizha,” has secured Rs 3.3 crore in funding from Kumar Vembu, the founder of GoFrugal Technologies. The investment was made through Vembu’s newly launched firm, Mudhal Partners, which means “First Partners” in Tamil. Baanhem Ventures was co-founded earlier this year by Hemachandran L.

and Balachandar R. The company’s mission is to support first-generation entrepreneurs from Tamil Nadu by providing financial support and mentorship.

Baanhem secures funding from Mudhal

Their flagship show, “Startup Thamizha,” has already garnered over Rs 200 crore in investment commitments for startups based in Tamil Nadu over its three seasons. The television program will be aired on a leading general entertainment channel and will showcase promising startups at both seed and growth stages. By encouraging high-net-worth individuals to invest locally, the show aims to inspire a cultural shift in funding startups and foster sustainable economic growth in Tamil Nadu.

The co-founders of Baanhem Ventures emphasized the importance of financial support for first-generation entrepreneurs in a joint statement. They said, “Financial support is crucial for first-generation entrepreneurs to bring their ideas to life.” They also highlighted their goal of becoming a reliable platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to turn their innovative ideas into successful businesses. Kumar Vembu expressed his support for Baanhem Ventures, stating, “Baanhem’s scientific approach to developing successful startups aligns with my vision to empower first-generation entrepreneurs.” Mudhal Partners aims to connect emerging startups with major investors nationwide and is working towards creating a startup-investment bridge platform to facilitate these connections.
