Azunclaimed.gov is the home page of the Unclaimed Property Unit, which depends of Arizona Department of Revenue.
Here you can find all about the activities of this Division, specially what refers to abandoned assets. An unclaimed property is an intangible asset that is presumed abandoned by its owner after a specific holding period. Some examples of intangibles assets are uncashed payroll checks or utility deposits not credited pr returned to the consumer. Therefore, the law requires people to check their records each year. This way, they determine if someone is in possession of any assets that may belong to another person. If that happens, the Arizona Department of Revenue must search the owner, and is responsible for the protection of the property until the owner is located. In fiscal year 2004 alone, over $50 Million was reported to the state as abandoned property, and over $10 Million of that was returned to rightful owners. The Department of Revenue wants you to join this commitment.
