The American Sociological Association has it seat in Washington, DC. It is a non-profit membership association that aims to promote and advance sociology both as a scientific discipline and as a profession that serves public welfare.
The site details the different activities carried out by the association. These include initiatives such as regional meetings, and reviews of teaching resources. Likewise, there is information on how to become a member of ASA, or how to renew a membership. A “Research and Stats” section includes a research index that can be consulted, as well as containing information on professional trends. Other section of the site deals with the teaching of sociology and connected issues, including teaching and academic resources. Different ASA publications like journals and newsletters can be found online. An employment bulletin is part of said publications, and it lists vacancies in both academic and practice settings. There is also a bookstore that can be consulted should the visitor need further resources.
