Arcspace.com – Architecture and Design Detailed

www.arcspace.com is a great site for people with an interest in architecture to catch up with current trends and influences of the past within the architecture and design fields.

This online magazine, which is updated every week, has reviews of interesting architectural projects, such as the Ferrari Museum in Modena, Italy, the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science in Florida, USA and the Barnes Foundation Building in Philadelphia. The photographs on arcspace.com are really excellent and give amazing insight into why these buildings being reviewed are cutting edge. Included in the articles are full plans, and lists of companies who worked on each building.

The site also has a list of current exhibitions around the world, a listing of recommended reading (in the Bookcase section), and a list of recommended hotels to stay in when you are visiting cities such as Copenhagen, New Orleans, or Beijing. All sections an architecture fan should visit before planning their next vacation.

The Editor In Chief, Kirsten Kiser has an informal blog, found in the KK Letters section, where she details design influences personal to her eclectic life. Reviews and photographs of items as diverse as Jeff Koons’ Popeye Series exhibition in London and a bottle of Da Vinci Chianti give a very personal view into her life.

In the features section arcspace.com profiles industry professionals, such as Le Corbusier and Gehry Partners, LLP; reviews their current and past projects and investigates their influence on the architecture profession. Unusually, arcspace.com allow anyone to use their photographs, as long as they are credited, and details for this can be found on the Image Library page.Links are available to Twitter and Facebook and also to all companies featured on the site.
