Apple Inc. has launched updates iOS 17.4.1 and iPadOS 17.4.1, introducing modifications in compliance with European Union directives. The updates offer a range of improvements and new additions to the software’s functionality, especially with an array of new emojis.

iPhone and iPad users can download these updates over-the-air via the General category under Settings. In addition, a security update, iOS 16.7.7, has been issued for users still operating iOS 16. This security update is designed to enhance overall functionality and user experience.

iOS 17.4.1 includes significant security enhancements and important bug repairs. Testing is expected to commence soon for iOS 17.5, with beta versions anticipated to be released in the coming weeks.

The hefty 6.46GB update has spurred speculation among users for containing more than just bug fixes and security upgrades. Though, this size may only be visible to beta profile users owing to the switch from a stable version to a Release Candidate beta profile. Apple has refrained from detailing the content of the update.

An upcoming guide will delve into key features of iOS 17, including new App Store changes for the EU, additional emojis, podcast transcripts, and expanded security measures. It will also explore the all-new personal safety tools, customizable widgets, live text in photos, and upgraded FaceTime options.

Further down the line, Apple is projected to release redesigned models with OLED screens and M3 chips, a refreshed Magic Keyboard accessory, and an updated 10.9-inch model along with a new 12.9-inch model potentially equipped with an M2 chip. Leading up to the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June, more AI-driven features are expect to be unveiled, with a public release scheduled for September.
