The Antique Outboard Motor Club was established in 1965 by five collectors. Within one year there were more than 200 members. It has grown slowly but steadily to over three thousand members in fourteen different countries today along with a substantial web presence at aomci.org. Membership into AOMCI can provide social connections to other enthusiasts, the ability to join local chapters, and participate in different shows. Additionally, hard to find parts, manuals and instruction booklets will be easier to find. Every member receives an official membership card, access to the voluminous club library, copies of the newest club magazine, the newsletter and the ability to register motors as antiques. Registration of motors can help in the event they become lost or stolen. It also helps other members reach out if they have the same motor. Joining The AOMCI, is easy right from their website aomci.org.
The club hosts several meets all over the United States annually. During meets members can find parts, share information about their motors, and learn more from other enthusiasts about their motors. There are also prizes awarded for the fasted, oldest, and best restored motor. In addition to these large annual meets, there are local chapters that come together on a regular basis where members can share their love of antique outboard motors.
On their website at aomci.org one can find out about the first outboard motors, host free classifieds, ask members questions, find local chapters, look at interesting photos from the club, learn about the club and of course, join.
