Users of &Friends get to see what their pals have bought, and also to read what they have to say about these apps. That is, &Friends displays a ranked list of applications which is unique to each user of the service.
And &Friends can also tell you about the most popular applications that users of the service in general (and not just your friends) have bought. You can have these lists sorted by age and by country, so that finding apps that are directly connected with the place you live in and the work you do is considerably simplified.
The only question, now, is whether we will see a comparable application for other mobile phones. Saying that the demand is there is not much of a stretch to me.
