Amcp.org – AMCP.org the Leading Home of Pharmacy Managed Care Online

The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) is located online at amcp.org. They are one of the nation’s leading professional association of pharmacists along with other health care practitioners. The company employs over 6,000 members which provide an extremely diverse range of educational, and clinical services. Their services reach over 200 million Americans who have a managed care pharmacy benefit plan. Amcp.org was created by eight pharmacists in 1988 at the RPR Kellogg Institute of Northwestern University. The company has expanded greatly since their creation, and they celebrated their 20th anniversary in 2009.

Their website is a comprehensive search engine (of sorts) that has a system, advocacy center, and a learning center for pharmacy students. In 2011, AMCP created a restructured initiative that helped to strengthen their system. They are currently focusing upon creating a planning process that will set new goals and reprioritize their needs for the next three to five years. As of 2011, the president of amcp.org is David Clark.

The Academy’s advocacy program focuses on the managed care pharmacy’s needs and ensures that all represented have their needs met by federal and state policies. Amcp.org keeps all members informed of changes and news that is relevant to them and also gives opportunities to members who are interested in becoming involved in advocacy efforts. The website is also is host to several publications that are relevant to their users which include; A Guide Toward Quality, The Academy’s Format for Formulary Submissions, along with others. AMCP.org continues to provide excellent service for their clients and members and will continue to do so for many years to come.
