Amblertheater.org – Non-Profit Ambler Theater

AmblerTheater.org is the Internet home page of Ambler Theater in Ambler, Pennsylvania. They are a non-profit community based movie theater that specializes in independent, art and foreign films. In addition to providing regular programming, they also include special events such as Saturday Kids Matinees and classic Hollywood films. They also present local filmmakers and host discussion groups and lectures. AmblerTheater is considered one of the region’s premier cinema destinations. Executive Director John Toner makes sure customers know that their job is to make the customer’s film experience as positive as possible. They welcome feedback and questions.

Warner Brothers opened AmblerTheater.org in 1928 when their first film, Our Dancing Daughters starring Joan Crawford, was shown on December 31st. In 1969, AmblerTheater quit showing films because of the competition, and for 27 years it was operated as a Christian cinema. It closed again for a few years before being sold in 2001 to businessmen who turned it into a non-profit theater. Two million dollars were put up for renovations and repairs. A replica of the demolished 30 foot vertical neon sign had been recreated, and the building has been restored to a close resemblence of its original form. AmblerTheater.org reopened on October 5, 2007 with the film Into The Wild.

AmblerTheater.org holds 280 people with its seating. Some of the current movies playing there include Damsels In Distress, Monsieur Lazhar, Slamon Fishing in the Yemen, Footnote, Friends With Kids and In Darkness. Coming soon movies include The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Today’s Special and The Bright Stream. Interested persons are able to buy a membership for a year and receive a free film pass. It also makes ticket prices cheaper!
