Amalcu.org is the home of Amalgamated Credit Union. ACU is a non-profit financial cooperative that is owned and operated by its members. The Board of Directors is compirmised of volunteers who are elected by the credit union’s members. They are involved throughout the Saginaw community, including a partnership with Saginaw area schools. Membership to Amalcu.org is open to individuals who live, work, or worship within the boundaries of Saginaw County or to family of current members. Their primary goal is to help customers, not to generate a profit. They enjoy better rates and more affordable services than are found at other financial institutions. Customers are exclusive beneficiaries of their services which makes them unique from other banks. Joining the credit union is as easy as opening a Regular Share (savings) Account with at least a $5 balance. The balance must always stay at $5 or more to remain a member. A picure ID and social security are also required as verification when opening the account.
ATM or Debit cards are offered to Amalcu.org customers in the form of a MasterCard Check Card. It’s a check and ATM card all rolled into one. It looks like credit but is a whole lote more than that. When it is used to pay for purchases, the fund are automatically deducted from the checking account. There is no need to worry about running out of checks and one doesn’t need to carry a bulky checkbook or provide identification when using their checking account. The MasterCard also helps eliminate the chance that the out of town check might not be accepted. It is accepted wherever Mastercard logo is accepted where there are millions of places world wide, including grocery stores and gas stations, that accept this form of payment.
