One of the best-known and beloved names in dog food is Alpo. Millions of dog owners have come to know and trust the brand, and can find out information about their products at alpo.com. Alpo has jumped on the social media bandwagon, with a Facebook window right on the main page, and offers coupons and access to special offers if the viewer “likes” them on that site.
Visitors to alpo.com may also get a considerable amount of information about their complete line of dog foods, ranging from their Homestyle line to Chop House to dry dog food, including Originals, Prime Cuts, and Prime Cuts in Gravy. A click on any one brings up a full page of information on each product, showing the different flavors and sizes available. Alpo.com has a Doggie Bag section, which features an online book entitled ‘Real Dogs Eat Meat Handbook’, which purports to include the stories of real dogs and their versions of the good life – which include lots and lots of Alpo, of course. The stories are gathered from dogs and their owners across the United States – each profile contains the dog’s name and home town, a picture, owner’s name and a line of copy about each one. There are seven chapters in the handbook in all, each one written from the dog’s point of view. These are the main features of alpo.com, but there are also links to the main Purina home page, PurinaCare pet insurance, and Petcentric.com, which is a separate site also run by Purina that has lots of photos, videos and other information about pets.
