AllJoyn.org – Direct Connection Between Devices

AllJoyn.orgAllJoyn is a new open source project that aims to take peer to peer connectivity to a whole new height. In general, it aims to remove all the traditional barriers that arise from depending on the cloud or any server when wanting to connect different devices. AllJoyn has been devised to let programmers and developers integrate peer-to-peer communication without having to depend on multi-transport environments.

In order to make that come true, the AllJoyn team (and all the people who are partial to what this team proposes and join in the action) want to come with a security framework of its own, where devices are bound to each other directly and messages are routed without any kind of unnecessary detour. And all this is meant to be accomplished with minimal requirements on the host OS, while being hardware and radio technology agnostic.

So, if this platform is successfully developed and adopted, it will mean that device-to-device connections will become possible without having to rely on intermediary devices. This project clearly has a long way to go, but it is fair to say it already seems quite promising. Give the site a visit to get to know it better, and to learn if there is anything you could do to help it get ahead faster.

AllJoyn.org In Their Own Words

AllJoyn is a peer-to-peer technology that enables ad hoc, proximity-based, device-to-device communication without the use of an intermediary server.

Why AllJoyn.org It Might Be A Killer

The ability to have devices connected without intermediaries of any kind seems the logical way to go.
