Alaweb.com – Alaweb Offers Genealogy, Games and More

Alaweb.com claims to offer a variety of online and communication services, including handy search links and webmail. The Alabama based site is somewhat vague on the details of what services, specifically, Alaweb offers, as well as how to sign up for them. The “Webmail” link allows existing users to sign into their account, but does not provide any information on creating an account.

The “Search” tab is a useful feature, allowing a user to simultaneously access four major search engines. Search boxes for Google, Yahoo, Alta Vista and Ask Jeeves are a useful way of finding answers to any question.

The “Links” section of alaweb.com is the most extensive page on alaweb. A plethora of links are provided, organized into categories like education, games, genealogy, government, kids, and travel. The “Relegion” (sic) category links to a number of local houses of worship, and “Shareware” provides easy shortcuts to useful sites like download.com. “Sports” gives details on local sporting groups, as well as national organizations like the NFL and NASCAR. Airlines and train websites are accessible through the “Travel” link, and “Games” suggests fun online games and gaming companies. Alabama records can be searched through “Genealogy,” and historical and like-minded people can be found through the genealogy forum.

The “Around Town” page on alaweb.com provides two links: “Movie Reviews” and “Reviews for TV.” Both appear to link to the same E! page, eonline.com, which provides celebrity and entertainment news/gossip. The last link, “Bill Pay,” brings up a login page where customers of Covington Electric Cooperative, Inc. can pay their bill.
