Don’t be caught with an overdue book fine! On-line services include material renewal and email notifications. AkronLibrary.org features Ask-A-Librarian, a library catalog and research databases. The research databases include a variety of subject material from automotive repair to grant writing. The database includes magazine indexes, articles and more.
Akron-Summit County Public Library offers digital media for people who would rather use an e-reader. E-books are available for Android, Apple, Kobo, Nook, Sony Reader and Kindle. E-audio and music files are available for the iPod or as an mp3. Not sure which device to purchase? KnowItNow is another useful feature found on AkronLibrary.org. The service offers a chance to get live help from a librarian for finding resources for homework or research. The online librarian can also provide suggestions for books to read 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The Library first utilized a Bookmobile in 1946. Today, the mobile services department has grown to include a van schedule that visits a variety of senior and other housing centers and the Library Express Delivery Services for free home delivery.
