Afterellen.com is a site that presents news and discussion on gay women in the arts and entertainment scenes; it is run by gay women and aims to encourage diversity and visibility of lesbians.
Thankfully, the site is too brainy to be considered just a gossip site, which partially is, but in as much as it holds a clearly defined agenda, and incites debate and discussion on the role of lesbians and gay persons who are influential performers or opinion makes, it is really much more interesting; also, it is really worthy to say that the site is written in a fast-paced, ironic and smart way, so it can be appealing even to those who are not at all interested in knowing about celebrities, and it is informative enough for the share of the audience that craves gossip sites for the gossip in itself. The site also contains reviews on TV shows, music albums, books and films that deal with gay and lesbian issues or that have been created/written/performed by famous members of the lesbian community. Contents are available in several formats, one of the coolest is the videoblog, which is like a series of comment shows that deal with specific entertainment related issues, plus a weekly podcast, RSS feeds, photo galleries, etc.
