Adobe has announced the launch of Photoshop on the iPhone, bringing its iconic image editing and design tools to mobile devices. The app offers a streamlined, intuitive interface tailored for on-the-go creativity while retaining essential features such as layering, masking, and AI-powered tools. The mobile app seamlessly integrates with the web version, allowing users to switch between devices effortlessly.

Enhancements to Photoshop on the web include a simplified user interface and direct integration with Adobe Stock assets across multiple browsers. “We’re excited to bring the limitless creative possibilities of Photoshop to mobile, making the app’s iconic image editing and design capabilities accessible for everyone from professional artists and designers to a whole new generation of creators trying Photoshop for the first time,” said Ashley Still, Senior Vice President of Digital Media at Adobe. The free Photoshop mobile app includes core tools like compositing images, advanced removal tools, and access to a vast library of Adobe Stock assets.

Premium features, such as Firefly-powered generative AI tools and an expanded font library, are available through a new Photoshop Mobile and Web plan at $7.99 per month or $69.99 annually. Current Photoshop subscribers will automatically have access to the mobile app at no additional cost. Photoshop on iPhone is now available in the Apple App Store, with an Android version set to arrive later this year.

Photoshop mobile expands creative possibilities

For YouTube stars and content creators Dan Howell and Phil Lester, the launch of Photoshop Mobile represents a significant shift in the accessibility of professional-grade editing tools. “I’m a self-taught photo editor that learned through years of disastrous graphic design, so the idea that now I can do it sitting in bed using Photoshop on iPhone is like… why was I born in the wrong decade?” Dan reflected.

Phil added, “Anyone who wants to express themselves creatively has to eventually learn to use these tools, and it used to be so complicated. I don’t want to go back to 2009.”

The duo believes that the democratization of digital tools empowers aspiring creators to produce high-quality content without being limited by access to expensive software or hardware. They also see the value of Photoshop Mobile in creating humorous, engaging content for their audience, such as memes and playful edits.

Looking toward the future, Dan and Phil agree that the rise of easy-to-use mobile editing apps is helping to level the playing field for up-and-coming creators. “The bar is definitely going to be higher, but anyone can be a part of creating whatever content they’ve dreamed of now, which is great,” Phil explained. With features like Firefly-powered AI, easy access to Adobe Stock, and a simple, intuitive interface, Photoshop Mobile is poised to change the way creators of all levels approach digital design.

As Dan and Phil put it, “Our advice is always to express yourself in whatever way excites you! Don’t chase audiences—just be yourself, make good stuff, and the audience will come to you.”
