For students in grades 1-12 in Alberta, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut Canada, ADLC.ca offers a distance learning program which includes online, print, and blended formats. The Alberta Distance Learning Centre (ADLC) offers students the flexibility of non-centralized instructors and course material to ensure that students are able to learn independent of time and place. This learning model helps students who may be abroad, working from home, or who would like to add additional courses to their traditional school schedule. ADLC students may take all of their school programs through ADLC or they make take some courses through ADLC.ca and additional courses through contracted schools.
The Alberta Distance Learning Centre website offers a course guide including their offerings in elementary, junior high, and high school courses. They also feature a Vista Virtual School, a Christian Program (comprised of both Bible courses and religious studies), French Immersion, and Francophone courses. Other languages available through ADLC.ca include Spanish (elementary and high school levels), as well as high school German and Ukrainian. The Junior High and Elementary classes are based upon the 9 Year Program of study while High School classes are based upon the 3 Year Program of Study.
Registration guides for ADLC elementary, junior high, and senior high courses as well as for Vista Virtual Elementary / Junior High and Senior High courses are available on ADLC.ca as PDF files for download and printing. Registration forms and student handbooks are also available for viewing and / or download and printing. For folks who run out of room for their information on the Registration Form, there is a supplemental “Additional Course Information Form” available on the ADLC site as well. And for Adult or Out-of-Province students, ADLC.ca requires a special registration form.
