The Access Board is an independent Federal agency dedicated to offer accessibility for people with disabilities. Created more than 30 years ago, the Board is now a leading source of information on accessible design.
Its mission consists in developing and maintaining design criteria for the built environment, transit vehicles, telecommunications equipment, and for electronic and information technology. It also provides technical assistance and training on these requirements and on accessible design and continues to enforce accessibility standards that cover federally funded facilities. It provides training on its accessibility guidelines and standards to various organizations and groups across the country. Most of these training sessions focus on ADA Accessibility Guidelines which cover the built environment and transportation vehicles. Visit access-board.gov to learn more about the Board, its guidelines and standards, as well as the research fields, their publications and more.
