The American Academy of Neurology is an international professional society of neurologists and neuroscientists. The academy was established in 1948 as a medical specialty society to make advances in the field and provide patients with neurological disorders with the best care possible.
Currently the AAN is based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The ANN holds annual meeting for its more that 21,000 members that come from the US as well as abroad. The meetings feature scientific findings, presentations, and educational courses. These presentations highlight cutting edge clinical, transitional, and basic research. The association believes in providing appropriate access to neurological care, supporting and advocating for ethical, quality care, providing excellence in professional education by offering a variety of programs both in clinical neurology and basic neurosciences to health professionals, and supporting clinical research in the neurosciences and related fields.
