Samsung has released a new app called Display Assistant, which offers unprecedented customization options for Galaxy S24 displays. The app is part of Samsung’s One UI and was introduced through Galaxy Labs. Display Assistant allows users to control the brightness duration for individual apps.
This means you can set different screen timeout settings for each app. For example, you might want the display to stay on longer when using Instagram or WhatsApp, but have a shorter timeout for banking or credit card apps. The app also lets you manage brightness levels at high temperatures.
It includes a feature called “Brightness limit profile” that allows you to override the standard brightness limit on your Galaxy, making the screen brighter than Samsung typically allows. However, using this setting may cause your phone to run hotter than usual and take longer to cool down.

Another unique feature is “Screen Curtain” mode. This puts the screen in a “doze” state, which means the display goes into an extremely low brightness mode without actually locking the screen. It’s useful for situations where display visibility is not critical, such as during phone calls or when using apps like YouTube Music.
Display Assistant also offers options to extend screen-on time. You can choose to keep your device’s display on for 30 minutes at a time, except when you press the power key, reboot the phone, or if the battery is below 15%. Other customization settings include the ability to double or quadruple the speed at which your display’s brightness changes, and an option to set a 60Hz refresh rate for specific apps to save battery life.
The Display Assistant app is currently available for Galaxy S24 devices running the One UI 7.0 beta. It sets a new benchmark in display customization and demonstrates Samsung’s commitment to expanding the capabilities of its One UI for a more personalized user experience.
