800BlueBook.com – A Used Car Price Guide

800BlueBook.comThe story goes that Churchill read his horoscope every morning, and when somebody asked him whether he believed in the predictions, he said no, but explained that Hitler did, and thus wanted to operate on the same information basis that his adversary did. Though a funny anecdote, there’s a good advice to it: if you are going to do business with someone, make sure you take advantage of all of the information around you, especially that which the other part considers to be important.

The Kelley’s Blue Book is one of the key elements in used car trade, as it is nothing more and nothing less than a regional price list, where dealers can check for the average buying and selling price of a certain car, SUV, truck, motorcycle, snowmobile and basically anything with a motor and two or more wheels to it. This information was traditionally printed in book form with blue covers, and accordingly has now launched a website targeted mainly for dealers with blue layout, and loads of interesting functionalities, including a variety of web-based apps to manage inventory, quickly price cars, print flyers and stats, and also to advertise all that inventory in the consumer-oriented site, kbb.com, where users can and are searching for used car prices (more than half of the used-car shoppers use it, according to this site). All of these products are suitable for small and large car sellers, and are subscription based, though unfortunately you can’t get any information on pricing from the site: you need to fill in a form with your contact details, and only then a regional sales rep will get back with pricing. I reckon this is somewhat inconvenient, as small or inexpert internet users might shy away from taking advantage of their marketing solutions thinking it could be too expensive or too complicated for them. Maybe a demo could be a simple and effective way to correct this and, of course, at least an approximate pricelist seems urgent. 800BlueBook.com
