We first featured 3Guppies.com on KillerStartups in 2007. Back then, the site offered one of the largest collections of free wallpapers and ringtones you could find on the Internet, and we predicted the site wouldn’t go unnoticed. And it turns out it hasn’t: 3Guppies has recently been acquired by Myxer, one of the largest providers of online mobile content. This new partnership means that users of 3Guppies and Myxer can now access a library of more than 325,000 items, and download the ones they like to their mobiles for free.
All the content is currently found on Myxer.com – 3Guppies.com no longer exists as an independent website. 3Guppies.com redirects to Myxer.com. The content is found in the following categories: “Ringtones”, “MP3s”, Wallpapers”, “Videos”, “Apps” and “Radio”.
A big downside is that all the content users had on their 3Guppies lockers is now gone, but Myxer accounts cost nothing, and they can be created in just a couple of clicks. And the content which is available on Myxer.com can be tried without having to register first, too.
And if you loved 3Guppier because of the great ringtone/wallpaper editor that was included on the site, then you’ll be glad to know that’s still available on Myxer.com. You’ll be able to take parts of songs and make them become your very own ringtone, and have any picture you’ve taken modified (and combined with others) until you have a wallpaper featuring just every single important person in your life.
